Folk Art of Northern New Mexico: Santeros, Theresa & Richard Montoya / July 5 - July 16, 2023

Retablos by Theresa Vigil Montoya and Richard Montoya of Santa Cruz, New Mexico. Santeros (those who paint saints) for over 40 years, their work was regularly featured in Santa Fe at Spanish Market and is in permanent collections with the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC and the Folk Art Museum in Santa Fe. They are the creators of the world's only "Beatles Retablos" featuring the saints John, Paul, George, and Richard (Ringo) combined with artistic interpretations of Beatles lyrics.

Also on view will be woodcarving and Santos by the famous Cordova Carvers,

known throughout northern New Mexico for their unique chip carved Santos, birds and trees of life.
